Christmas Caribbean Cruise

Over Christmas we went on a cruise to Costa Maya, Mexico, Roatan Island, Honduras, Belize, and Cozumel. We had such a great time together as a family. The weather was wonderful and we had so much fun. Above is Crue on Christmas morning opening his present from the onboard Santa. Below is the Iguana Farm in Honduras, Crue loved feeding them and seeing the sea turtles, monkeys and other assorted animals.

Here we are snorkeling on the island. The water was the perfect temp and we so a lot of neat fish, including a lion fish, an eel, a sea worm, and a barricuda.

Crystal Cove Tree lighting

We went down to the tree lighting at Crystal Cove last week.

Crue could not get enough of this old car, he climbed onto it over and over again.

Crue and Santa. He really could care less about the guy one way or the other. His look says exactly what I know he is thinking "When can I go eat this candy cane?"

Last Friday Crue and I went paddle boarding in the Sunset Beach Harbor with some friends. It was so much fun and Crue loved being out on the water.

We recently got passes to Disney and have been putting them to good use. Crue loves people watching and going on rides. His favorite is the water area at California Adventure. If anyone has passes let us know and we would love to go with you!

Crue turned 1 on July 31, and we had a little party at the park to celebrate. He put out his candle with his fingers and enjoyed a healthy carrot cupcake. The first sweet he has had.

Here he is trying on his cute bumble bee outfit that his Great- Grandma got for him. We are keeping our fingers crossed that he doesn't grow much before Halloween so he can wear this.

One of my friends got Crue this piggy bank before he was born and I just brought it out for him to play with. Abe and I give him coins and he puts them in and then cups his hand out for more. Already asking for money!

Crue has learned the art of smiling for the camera. The pictures below were not consecutive, 3 different smiles when I told him to smile. It was so funny because he was trying to get off the chair and every time I told him to smile he did this huge grin that I have never seen before, and then went right back to trying to get down. He is so funny. These pictures were taken on 4th of July.

Lately

So we have been doing a lot of fun stuff lately but I probably won't get around to blogging about it so I am just going to post some fun pics of Crue for the fam. We are moving in less than a week so I have felt like we are in limbo the last few weeks, just waiting to move and have more space. We are only moving a few miles away to a condo community called Crystal Cay, but we are so excited. We will have our own bedroom again and so will Crue. We will have way more storage and patio space and I am so excited to set up a play area for Crue. I am not looking forward to moving though. I am trying to get rid of as much stuff on Craigslist as possible so we don't have to move it. Anyway here is the boy.

He took 3 steps on his own on Friday and has done it about 6 times now. I can tell that he really wants to walk like most of his friends. I also looked in his mouth today and 2 teeth had popped through on the top. Its funny though because they are not the front 2 teeth but the teeth that come in next to the front two. I hope it stays like that for awhile and he looks like a little vampire!

My mom got him this cute outfit and I wanted him to wear it before he outgrew it. I don't think it will fit next Halloween so he wore this all day and it was so cute.

He loves his car. I push him around and say "beep-beep" and he thinks it is so funny. He makes eye contact with everyone we walk by and smiles so they will talk to him. He is so proud of his car.

Crue has lost most interest in playing with his mommy during the day and now just wants to get into everything. He can climb stairs (3 so far). He pulls up on everything, and will walk along the furniture. He also thinks he can stand alone because he will pull up to standing and then let go. So we have had a lot of little bumps lately. We are working on finishing up the babyproofing. The other day I pulled him away from the fireplace 20 times, no exageration, and 5 of those times we had to go wash his hands because he made it before I could stop him. Any suggestions for babyproofing a fireplace on floor level? We are worried he will pull any thing we put on the ground on top of himself.

He never really sits up the regualr way, although he knows how. Instead he pulls up to his knees and sits up on them like this. This is one of his favorite "toys" the recycling bin.

Look at that sad face. This is how I now find him when he doesn't want to nap. I am so scared he is going to fall back and hit the bars. This is pretty high for him to pull up so his arms are usually shaking when I get to him! Oh yeah, his favorite things to do include randomlylicking the kitchen floor and garbage can. So gross, but there is really nothing I can do but keep them clean.

My sister and Crue and I just got back from a trip up to my parents house to see my brothers new baby Leliana. It was short and sweet and Crue loved all of the attention from everyone and the large amount of space that he had to crawl around and destroy everything. He just got his first tooth and is a handful. He opens drawers, knocks things of our shelves and loves food. We just love him more every day. For those of you who haven't noticed this blog has basically turned into a Crue shrine. We are loving life and having fun but once you have a kid it is all about the baby for awhile.

Crue loved Freckles. Freckles didn't love Crue so much. If we heard random loud giggling, it meant Crue had got to Freckles. and was trying to grab her fur or let her lick his face. Yuck!

Crue and his new first cousin on the Hickman side. He loved her and tried to hug her, kiss her, and suck on her, he thought we got him a new toy or something. She looked a little scared of him. She is only 2 weeks old in this pic. Everyone was calling Crue the big baby, and her the little baby!

So Sweet, I am so glad we got to go meet her while she is so new.

Today was such a beautiful day. My cousin Crystal came from Vegas to visit and we headed down to Blue Lagoon where Abe was working. The weather was fantastic and we saw a school of dolphins and a whale. We saw the blowhole and followed the whale down the beach, we saw the tail and the whole body. It was amazing, I have never seen a whale from the shore before.

My nursing coverup became Crue's makeshift hat, since I forgot to bring one for him.

Wedding Weekend

Two weekends ago Crue and I went to Northern California for my best friend from high school's wedding, it was a lot of fun to see old friends. Crue loved seeing his Grandma and he got to meet both of his uncles for the first time. Here are some pics from the weekend in no particular order. Crue is now talking so much, grabbing at everything and trying to put it in his mouth, and smiling and laughing a lot.

Crue is 3 months today, we went to the doctor this morning and he weighs 14 pounds (74%), and is 24 1/4 inches(70%). He is so much fun, smiling constantly and cooing a lot. Crue's good buddy Eli, below, showed up with the cutest hat, so of course we had to go get Crue one. Here they are below at Chrissy and Brent's going away get together. We are going to miss them.
I thought he looked so cute in his hat that I took a few more pictures of him in it. He isn't much of a fan of the hat but as you can see I love it.

Baby Crue has arrived!!!

Crue Benjamin Oyler has arrived. He weighed in at 7 pounds 1 oz, and was 20 1/2 inches. Contractions started at about 12 am yesterday morning and we arrived at the hospital at about 3 am. I was already to a 5 when we got there and was ready to push by about 8 am but we had to wait for the doctor. After about 20 minutes of pushing Crue arrived at 9:45 am. He is such a good baby and has had no problems. The only thing that has a big challenge so far is breastfeeding, but hopefully it doesn't hurt for that long. He has a strong suck so I guess that is great. We got to come home today

Last Weekend

Last Weekend after my mom came down for my baby shower, since Abe was sick, I decided to got Nor-Cal with her and see the family and some friends.

Getting foot massages in Chinatown in San Fran with my best girls from high school. The foot massages were so nice, I highly recommend this place.

April Trip

Recently I was lucky enough to get to go on a trip and visit both of my sisters. My sister Kendra lives in Delaware so I was able to hang out with her for a few days and see the kids I used to be a live-in nanny for. They have gotten so cute and big. Then we flew to London with a 9 hour layover in Chicago. We met my sister Linsey in London and spent a few days with her. Lastly, we spent one day in Norway as we found some cheap tix and were ready to move on from London. I couldn't figure out how to post these pics corretly so they start with the end of the trip and move on to the beginning. Here we are in Norway, there was still snow on the ground. We went to the site of the 2011 olympics and saw where they were building all of the ski jumps.

Puerto Rico- Here We Come

We booked our trip to Puerto Rico! We are going over the week of Thanksgiving. If any of you have ever been there, please, fill us in on the spots you enjoyed the most. We are definitely kayaking on the bioluminiscent lake, and I will be paddling out into some rediculous barrells at Tres Palmas and Hollows. If there are any more must see/must visit/must surf spots, please let us know. For all of you that dont get to go with us this time, we will post pictures of everything. I look forward to hearing from all of you.

A Series of Misfortunate Events

So, this year has been really weird with Holly and I continuously getting hurt. It started in January/February when Holly dislocated her knee while she was bowling of all things. Then last month I pulled a muscle in my back when I slipped at one of my property inspections (out for a week) then yesterday, Holly was rear ended on the 22 Freeway. She was completely stopped and a big truck hit her at 40+ mph. Thank goodness she is not in the hospital, but she did hurt her back and neck. Needless to say, our 9 month old corolla is totaled. Thank you to all of our family and friends that have called and said prayers for her. She is a very tough girl and didnt want to let her company down, so she is back to work already. I will post some pictures of car soon.

2008 Update

Okay, due to popular demand, we are actually going to attempt to keep our blog updated. I imagine it will mostly consist of my thoughts since Holly doesnt like to talk about herself. Maybe with a little encouragement, she will (hint, hint) Anyways, 2008 has been busy, busy. Holly is working full time as an auditor for the worlds largest tax firm, Deloitte and Touche, and studying at night and on weekends for her CPA exams. She is very busy and impressive to watch, ive never known anyone so diligent in their studies and completing personal goals.
I am still working full time for as an HOA Property Manager, and I am finishing my degree in Business Management up at Long Beach State. I too am excited to have some kids.

This year has been fun and busy. We started it off in Utah for Christmas and New Years with Holly's family and her mom's extended family. It was great, we had a huge 7 bedroom cabin in Sundance and got in lots of great snowboarding. The Fall was a blur for me as I was in school every night after work and Holly had her first busy season (working 12-14 hour work days) In May, Holly went with her Mom, Aunt and Cousin to Europe for 3 weeks. It was a great oppurtunity for her and her Mom, and they had a blast. She went to Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Prague and Amsterdam. WOW!

When she got back we went to Mexico (Baja) for nice extended weekend with our good friends, the Hadleys and the Lamberts. Later in June we went to Arizona for a wedding, house/babysat in Dana Point and I went to Beau's for a little Oyler reunion and golf tournament, where we also got to do the temple work for our late childhood friend, David Spielfogel. It was an amazing oppurtunity full of love and enlightenment.

The Oyler Clan came down to our neck of the woods for the 4th of July and we got to see a lot of our favorite nephew, Luke the Duke. Probably the most encouraging factor in my wanting to have kids. He is awesome.

At the end of July, Holly had to leave again to go to training in Arizona for a week (bummer) neither of us liked that one bit.

That pretty much brings us up to date. We are over all doing great, and we are excited to be contributing to the blog community after years of poaching on our family and friend's blogs.
